Welcome to the Cholsey and Wallingford heritage railway, where you can experience the charm and nostalgia of a bygone era. Our railway offers a unique opportunity to travel back in time and enjoy a leisurely journey through the picturesque countryside. Our service runs on selected days throughout the year, our timetable further down the page shows our operating days for this year.
A round trip from Wallingford to Cholsey takes around 45 minutes, allowing you to sit back, relax, and take in the beautiful scenery (with a cream tea on selected dates).
We offer a range of fares to suit all requirements, including exclusive use of a table or compartment for groups of up to four or six passengers. Please note that pre-booked catering is not currently available for individual Adult/Children tickets, so we recommend booking a table or compartment to avoid disappointment.

Note: For operational reasons, on train pre-booked catering is only available when boarding at Wallingford, and not available for individual Adult/Children tickets, please book a table/compartment
Wheelchair Users – due to the construction and layout of our 1950s coaches access is very limited for people with mobility issues. Wheelchair users may travel along with one accompanied companion in the Guard's brake van, a ramp can be provided to aid boarding. Please contact us in advance and we will endeavour to assist you.
Concessionary Travel Offer
Buy one Standard Adult ticket (£13) and one carer or companion is admitted for standard travel free of charge per wheelchair user, visually impaired visitor, or another person whose disability necessitates a carer. Please note concessionary fares are not available on any dining services.
Well-behaved pet dogs are welcome and travel free of charge – please keep them off the seats or in any dining areas.
Buggies and Strollers can be accommodated on the train in the Guards brake van, please see a member of our train crew. They may also be left at Wallingford Station, please see a member of our Platform staff.

Services will be either steam or heritage diesel depending on operational availability and the railway reserves the right to change any advertised loco as required.
